Winter Wonderland Exchange Revised

I am really hoping to do this, need just a few more classes to participate. Here are the simple guidelines:
1. Choose one item that relates to the months of January, February or March in your area.
2. Have each child in your class make one of that item ~ for a total of 20 items.
3. Write a short letter that tells why you choose the item and a bit about your class.
4. Contact me by commenting on the post. I will then send you the address to mail your package to.
5. The first 19 classes to respond will be included.
6. You will then receive 19 different art projects back with their info letters.
7. Decorate your classroom with the projects and teach your children about other classes.
As an example: My class will be making Groundhogs. Groundhog Day, on February 2, is a big thing in Pennsylvania. We may even include some fun ideas for your class to do on Groundhog Day! Another class has chosen to make sleds, as riding them is what they do from January to March.
Please share this post with anyone you think might be interested. Feel free to share it on your blog!
Please come and join the fun!

  11. Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my blog!! I would love to be kept in the loop for your Winter Exchange. It sounds like a great idea that I'm sure my kids will really get into! I'm not sure what project to choose, but thanks to BlogLand and Pinterest, there's no shortage of inspiration! My email is rebecca@whiffer.net. Oh, and I only have 10 students. Maybe each student could make 2??

    Best wishes,

    1. I am hoping we can all make our projects before winter break and send them off in the mail. Over break I can collate all the projects and send each class their package. That way packages should be received the first week of January and you'll have all winter to enjoy them. Is that okay with everyone?

  16. Maria! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the invite. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to join this time :( We have so much testing coming up and so little time! This is seriously an amazing idea though and I will be following along to see what everyone made!! If you do this again next year, keep me in mind!!

  17. Marcia, Thanks for all the nice comments about my blog. Welcome to blogland. Im a little confused about the project. Are we making one item that relates to all three months or are we making 3 different items, one for each month? I understand that we would make 20 of that one item. We send our items to you and you send them out? How many classes are you hoping to include in the project? I would like to participate. Since we have snow for about 4 months in Vermont I was hoping to create some kind of snowman. Is that ok?

    1. We are each just making one project. Snowmen would be great. Yes, you will send your 20 snowmen to me with a letter about your class and what the children like to do in Vermont in January, February and March. All the classes will send their projects and letters to me, I will collate them and mail them back out. You will receive back a package that contains one art project & letter from each of the participating schools. I am hoping for 20 classes. We are almost there. If you can think of anyone who would like to join the fun, please invite them. Thanks! I can't wait to see your snowmen.

  19. Marcia,
I'll check with my 2 skyping buddies to see if they would like to join in. One's from Texas and one's from Iowa. We already do projects together but this one you created is different and sounds like lots of fun.

  21. Hi Maria!
This sounds awesome.... although we live in Ontario, Canada. It might be quite pricey to send our crafts to the states. If there is any way we can digitally participate, that would be terrific! :) Let me know. If not, hopefully you will keep us in mind for future projects/activities.
Thank you for the invite. It is VERY MUCH appreciated.

  22. Got the information from my Skype buddy. Sounds great.
I am thinking about doing a Martin Luther King or Presidents Day project, but we won't begin these units until January or February. Am I correct you want all these art activities before winter break?
If you do, then I will need to think of an art activity we do in the month of December.
    Just let me know.
    Thanks!
